Hi,
I have recently purchased a Compaq F733AU laptop.
I bought this laptop with DOS pre-insatlled. I wanted to install WinXP on it.
But compaq does not provide XP compatible drivers. They provide drivers for only vista.
I have however found all the drivers from internet.
Here are all the drivers.
Audio Driver
a. UAA Driver
Your Presario is shipped with the High definition Audio controller,
so you have to first install the Microsoft UAA driver and then install the Audio and Modem drivers.
Here is the Microsoft UAA Driver link.

Download this file and start the setup by double clicking it.
It will extract the contents in c:\SWSetup\SP33566 and then will start the setup wizard.
In case the files are extracted but the setup does not start automatically.
Go to this location C:\SWSetup\SP33566\Disk1 and start by clicking on the setup.exe.
Follow the onscreen instructions and it will install it.
Restart your laptop.
b. Audio Driver
Download the audio driver from below address
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe
Start the setup by double clicking on this file.
It will extract the contents in c:\swsetup\SP34200.
Also after extracting it may start the setup wizard and may show error. Proceed.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install".
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (At8VEN5a.inf) file and
click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
or
Then download the zip file "sounds.zip" from http://www.jszgfood.com/sound.zip
Unzip to a folder,then use Device Manager to install.
Device Manager>Audio device on HD Bus
Right click, Update Driver
Say "no, not at this time" for connecting to Windows Update
Install from a list or specific location
Don't search I will choose the driver to install
In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk"
Next...browse to the unzipped driver folder.
Choose the WiSVHe5.inf ,and Ignore XP when it complains
Modem Driver
Download the modem driver from below location
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33742.exe
Double click on the file.
It will extract the contents in c:\swsetup\sp33742. It may start the setup wizard automatically.
The setup may result in some error. Procees.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Modem" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Modem" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp33742 folder and select the .inf (At8VEN5m.inf) file and
click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
Graphics Driver
Download the graphics driver from the below address.

Double click on the exe file. It will extract the contents in the “156.55” directory.
Open the extracted contents. Run the setup by clicking on setup.exe.
Follow onscreen instruction.
Restart the computer.
Wireless LAN Driver
Download the driver from below location
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34152.exe
Double click on the exe file.
It will extract the contents in the c:\SWSetup\SP34152A. It may start the setup wizard
automatically.
If setup wizard is not started, open the extracted content and click on setup.exe.
Follow on screen instructions.
Downlaod the following.
Extract it to C:\ Wireless Network Driver.

2. Right click on “Wireless/Network Adapter" and click Update driver.
(the one shown with question mark.)
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\ Wireless Network Driver folder and select the .inf (net5211.inf)
file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
LAN Driver
Before Installing this driver please install USB driver.
Windows XP provides default USB driver which is sufficient.
To install USB driver, run devmgmt.msc.
Right click on the yellow (?) mark for USB controller and click update driver.
Now select “not this time”. Click Next.
Then select “install from a list”. Click Next.
Then select “don’t search”. Click next.
Windows will select a default driver. Click Next.
The USB driver will be installed.
Download the Lan driver from below location

Webcam Driver
There is no need to install separate driver for webcam.
Just install USB driver provided by Windows XP.
How to install default USB driver is mentioned in LAN Driver section.
